Dr. Laura Hutchinson

Dr. Laura Hutchinson CVA ESMT CVSMT has been practicing veterinary medicine for the past 18 years since graduating from The University of the West Indies with Honours in a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine. She has also gained qualifications in Equine Massage Therapy, Mixed Animal Acupuncture and Equine Spinal Manipulation over the past 9 years. Most recently, Laura completed her certification in Canine Semen Preservation, Breeding Management and the Art of Transcervical Insemination from MOFA.

Dr. Hutchinson started her career as part-owner of Eastern Veterinary Clinic in 2001, and later branched out since 2008 to owning her own business, Trinity Animal Clinic which caters to both small animals and livestock. From the clinic she practices all aspects of medicine, from diagnostics to surgery both in clinic and in the field.

Laura also works part-time for the B’dos Turf Club on race days, and is the past president of the Barbados Veterinary Council, and current treasurer for The Barbados Veterinary Association.

When she isn’t at the Clinic, she enjoys spending family time with her two young girls and gardening.

Dr. Samantha Matthews

Dr. Samantha Matthews fell in love with animals at a very young age working with her grandmother on her farm and decided then that she wanted to work with animals.  

She acquired her bachelor’s degree in Physics and Chemistry and then attended the University of the West Indies, St Augustine Campus. During her time there she volunteered at the R.S.P.C.A. as well as Content Animal Clinic. Dr. Matthews graduated with Honors in 2017.  

After graduation she volunteered with Dr. Jonathan White working with horses before joining the Trinity Animal Clinic team in November. Dr. Matthews has a special interest in farm animals, but she thoroughly enjoys working with every species of animal that comes through the doors at Trinity Animal Clinic.

 Dr. Kamara Rhynd DVM MSc

After realizing her childhood dream of becoming a veterinary surgeon in 2000, graduating with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree with Honours from the School of Veterinary Medicine, University of the West Indies, Trinidad, Dr Kamara Rhynd realized another lifelong dream of working with wildlife and exotics. After spending a few years in private practice in Jamaica, she pursued and completed a MSc in Wild Animal Health from the Royal Veterinary College, University of London in 2005.

Since competing this she has had the opportunity to work at the Hope Zoo in Jamaica for 3 years and spent 8 years as Facility veterinarian at the Barbados Wildlife Reserve. She has had the privilege of working with endangered species such as the Jamaica rock iguana and the Cayman Island Blue iguana. She has also been a Patrol Officer with the Barbados Sea Turtle Project working with Hawksbill turtles.

She has a special interest for exotics and wildlife is generally up for a challenge whatever the animal.

She is the current Vice- President of the Barbados Veterinary Association and Committee of Management member of the Barbados Apicultural Association.
